Premier League teams are putting a lot of effort into strengthening their lineups in anticipation of the upcoming season now that the transfer market has opened.Teams in the top flight will be keen to expand this summer, but they also need to be aware of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines.
Tottenham Hotspur is one of the teams looking to bolster manager Ange Postecoglou’s lineup in the coming weeks. There are now rumors going around that the North London squad would thwart a Championship star’s acquisition.
Ben Jacobs reports that Tottenham is still in the running to sign Archie Grey, a great player for Leeds United, despite though he is about to join with Brentford.
Jacobs claims that although a scheduled physical was planned, the £40 million trade between the 18-year-old defender and the Bees has not yet been finalized.
Grey’s boyhood club, Leeds, is likely to see him move this summer.
Given this, the author claims that the Lilywhites are one of the teams to keep an eye on should the move be exploited.
Many believe that Grey, who attended the Whites’ development system, is currently one of the most promising young players in England.
The young player has already participated in 52 games for the squad across all competitions since making his senior debut at the start of the previous season.
A player may need to be sold this summer in order for the Championship squad to adhere to P&S requirements, even if Gray’s Leeds contract is set to end in 2028.
According to Jacobs, selling Grey would ease the club’s concerns regarding profitability and sustainability.
